Ensure Tire Safety for Minimized Risks on the Road

Tires play a critical role in a vehicle. It is responsible in propelling, moving and braking of a vehicle. Tires are the only thing in a vehicle that contacts with the road. Therefore tires give your vehicle the traction to stay on road as well as overall safety and greater security. Tire safety is therefore a crucial part when it comes to achieving the above.

Tire safety can be achieved by checking the tires regularly. Many believe this is a cumbersome and somewhat unnecessary exercise but it is a “must do” to achieve your own safety. Following are few areas to pay attention to:

•    Make sure to regularly check the tire pressure. It important to have correct tore pressure in order to take a good grip of the road. Incorrect tire pressure can even reduce fuel efficiency by one gallon per mile.

•    Other key factor is proper wheel alignment. Alignment refers adjustments of front and behind suspension parts. This helps to control the vehicle correctly while increasing the life span of the tires.

•    Paying attention to ware and tare is an important part of tire safety. Tires have wear indicators and rubber markers. Minimum legal tread depth is 2/32 inches. If you are nearing these you need to go for new tires. If not tires have a possibility of exploding while driving at high speed which can cause serious accidents.

•    Rotate tires regularly to extend the life of tires and save money at the same time.  The period for rotation is given in the tire manual. Make sure to follow them to achieve better output from your tires.

•    Having the correct tire balance is also an important factor in the long run. When it is unbalanced vibration from the wheels will occur. Therefore it is always important to keep the static and dynamic balance in the wheels of the both side of the vehicle.

In addition to above points, keeping your spare wheel in good shape is also a crucial factor in tire safety. Regular checking for above mentioned points, especially before a long drive is highly recommended. Slow down when driving over damaged roads to increase the life of tires. Changing tires more often can be very annoying, disturbing and very expensive. Therefore use these tips on tire safety to get the maximum from your tires while ensuring vehicle safety.
