1. Clean your car regularly. Both inside and out, you want to make sure that your car stays sparkling clean. Washing your car once every month or every other month will allow the dirt to come off and damage to not move further into the body of the car.
2. Change your oil. This is a simple rule that just about every car owner knows, but it is also maintenance that you don't want to overlook. In your oil change, you should also include changing the oil filter and making sure that everything is running smoothly.
3. Give your car a check up. Even if you are not changing anything, make sure that your car is running on full. Check all of the fluids, oil levels and extras on the interior of your car before you decide to take a trip into a new area.
4. Remember the tune-up. This is the key that will save you thousands of dollars down the road. You want to make sure that you get a tune-up twice a year and if you notice something wrong, get it done even more than this. This will include changing out the fluids, spark plugs and other small essentials of the car.
5. Don't drive on empty. Even with higher gas rates, you will still want to make sure that you have at least a quarter of a tank in your car. If you don't, it could cause more complications with your car and the way that it is able to drive.
6. Don't put off the regular care. If you have had tune-ups and changes, you will still want to pay attention to what is going on. Don't put off checking service lights or other sounds that may not sound normal to you.
7. Go the extra mile. Part of getting your car in good condition is keeping it in good condition. If you don't want to ever have to do extra maintenance, cover your car up or get a garage, do extra check ups and make sure that everything continues to function the way that you want.
With a few simple steps forward, you can keep your car running smoothly and the way that you want to down the road. In the end, it will allow your investment to last for years and will make your car have a long, healthy and happy life.
